Are you happy?

Posted in Diary Entries, Fitness & Exercise at 9:49 am by Nicole

I suppose I shouldn’t copy and paste my article from another website, but I love her and her motivation…so here goes!

Are you hitting your goals?
Are you dropping weight?
Are you putting on muscle?
Are you happy?!!
If not…why not?
If not now…when?

If you have excuses why you’re not ‘there’ yet…

Take those reasons and change your perception of them.

There are things in life called excuses…and then there are things called CHALLENGES.

Excuses are reasons why things don’t get done.

Challenges are reasons why you become stronger to get things done.

So…

Forget the Christmas cookies, the television show, the happy hours or the morning fatigue.

Get’r DONE!

Happy 3 monthiversary to us!

Posted in Diary Entries at 9:16 pm by Nicole

3 months already!  It seems like just yesterday…and we still don’t have the thank you cards out.  I always said I would never be the person who sent thank you’s so late.  But it isn’t my fault!! :(   Soon…I promise :(   The good news about the 3 months is now I can officially change my last name!  Even though it is a very long and arduous process, I am looking forward to my new signature  ;)

Last night I celebrated Alleta’s 30th birthday at Judy’s house with a couple of her close friends.  It was so nice to be invited to share the festivities and finally get to meet the girls she always talks about.  They are a great group…we had lots of fun eating, talking about babies and various other topics.  Got home about midnight and fell fast asleep.  I unfortunately couldn’t taste test more of the yummy chocolate martini’s that were made but plan on making myself some very soon!!  Would anyone care to join in the fun? :)

My most exciting news is that I am going away in January to a weekend fitness camp in Boston! It is really geared towards fitness competitiors, not that I want to compete, but who knows what it could lead to.  What I really want to do is train fitness competitiors to do gymnastics!  The camp will cover: stage presentation, suit and costume selection, nutrition, training, tanning, choreography, competing on a budget, sponsorships, photo shoots and much much more!!
I have 7 weeks to go to see what I can do with my body!  Please don’t offer me any christmas goodies!  I will say “No thank you”

How to get Abs

Posted in Diary Entries, Fitness & Exercise at 11:57 am by Nicole

What do you need to buy to get abs? Nothing, Abs are FREE!!!!!

You don’t need any potions, powders, magical miracle pills, or crazy contraptions that give you abs in 7 seconds. There are no magical methods that exist. So if you are looking for magic, keep on looking and good luck to you.

Workout consistently and eat right. And don’t eat any junk food. That is how you will get abs and it takes time and dedication.

You get visible abs by having low bodyfat. You can do 5000 crunches a day and you’ll never in your life see your abs unless you lower your bodyfat. That means you can’t eat all the delicious treats you love if you want to have abs.

I don’t make the rules, I just follow them. So you can have abs if you are willing to work for them. Are you? That is what will determine your success. If you stop eating junk food for one day it won’t make a difference. You have to commit yourself to working out regularly and eating right. And yes,… it’s hard.

Today’s Motivation

Posted in Diary Entries at 8:05 am by Nicole

From Kweisler:

The similarities between an airplane’s flight path and life are quite striking. Think about goal setting. In the past, you may have set a goal, started working on it, and the whole time you were off course. Yet, like the plane, you still reached your destination, your goal, on time. How can this be?

Part of setting a “good goal” is writing out a plan for accomplishing it. Your very own “flight path” if you will. The major challenge we have as humans is that we don’t have autopilot and GPS to make sure we stay on track. That means we have to do a couple of things.

First, you need to write down your goal. When you write down your goal, it should be broken down into quarterly, monthly, and weekly goals. Hang it in your office. Make it your screen saver. Change all your passwords to your goal. Write it on the rearview mirror of your car. Make sure your goal is constantly in front of you. Not seeing and thinking about your goal is like not typing your flight path into the plane’s automatic pilot program – you won’t know where to go!

Second, you need to track and review your progress. Tracking your goal will act as your own GPS signal and tell you where you are at. By looking at your chart, you should be able to know very quickly whether or not you are on, ahead, or behind in accomplishing your goal.

Third, you need to get back to the plan. If you are off track, you need to adjust and get back on course. If you are on or ahead of your plan, look at what’s coming up and make sure the plan you started with will continue to work. There is nothing wrong with changing your plan if you figure out it will not take you where you want to go.

Being one degree off course means a flight from LA to New York City would land in the Atlantic Ocean. Being one degree off track for your goals could feel like you are on that flight from LA. Plan, write, hang, and review your goals. In so doing, you will create your own autopilot and GPS to achieving your goals.

Enthusiasm is contagious!

Posted in Diary Entries, Fitness & Exercise at 2:20 pm by Nicole

If you are not excited to workout..
PRETEND you are.

If you don’t want to eat a salad…
PRETEND you do.

If you are tired after work…
PRETEND you aren’t.

Have enthusiasm! – as Emerson has once said “nothing is achieved without enthusiasm”

You’ve never seen an athlete upset that he/she has to train.

You’ve never seen a leader tired of getting up each morning.

You’ve never seen a successful person that didn’t have enthusiasm to get there.

Be Enthusiastic!

You have the opportunity to change your life today!!

Where does the time go?

Posted in Diary Entries at 11:53 am by Nicole

I can’t believe we have forgotten about our blog…life is happening way too quickly but we must spare some time to document what goes on.  My memory can’t remember it all!

Things we haven’t written about *checking my calendar*:

-  Wedding weekend
-  Honeymoon cruise
-  Back to coaching
-  Sophie playing at Chapters
-  Barb & Brendan’s wedding
-  Our healthy lifestyle
-  Goals for the new year
-  An apology that the thank you cards haven’t been sent yet, but the photographer is terrible at communication and the photos aren’t ready yet :(
-  My Mom

That should keep us busy for a while, but in the meantime, I’ll tell you what is happening this week!

This weekend was a fun filled trip with Sonia, Cathy and Lori to Erie, PA for some cross border shopping.  It started off kind of rough when Sonia drove out of the parking lot with Cathy hanging out of the van door.  Oops! Our trip in total took 3.5 hours, that included no line up through the Peace Bridge and singing Christmas carols along the way.  We headed straight to Millcreek Mall even before settling in our hotel room.  The evening was mostly browsing for the deals we would purchase on Saturday, and boy was there alot of them.  We went to Olive Garden for dinner and only had to wait 45 minutes in the bar area.  Enjoyed a nice drink and meal then decided to go to the casino.  That was the best decision made all weekend.  Guess who won $600 on the 5cent slots!!  WOOHOOO!!  The bells were going, lights were flashing and I was super excited to have my shopping weekend paid for.  After all the excitement we went back to the hotel to get a good night sleep for the rush of tomorrow.

Awake at 5:30, shopping at Macy’s by 7am, we spent the day in and out of so many stores I can’t even keep them all straight.  Some of the stores we hit were:  Kohls, Bath & Body Works, TJMaxx, Marshalls, DSW, Wal-Mart, Victoria Secret, JC Penny, Sams Club…the list goes on…Lunch was a quick stop to Red Lobster and dinner consisted of chinese food delivery at the hotel.  We decided to have a couple drinks and unfortunately Cathy had one too many…so we took her hammered self to Walmart with us.  She spent the time in the bathroom.  At midnight we decided to head back to the hotel for a wee nap as we were out of cash and out of our minds for shopping for 17 hours!

We packed up the van and headed home on Sunday after stopping at *just one more store* with a no hassle trip through the border (not even ONE car in front of us!!)  I was so worried about the crossing, seeing as how we spent about $3500 between us…

I  had a great time with the ladies and can’t wait to do it again.  Some of my favourite purchases were:

-  2 pairs of boots (brown & black)
-  Chi Hair Iron
-  BSN Cinnamon Roll protein powder
-  2 Nike workout tops
-  Gwen Stefani & Happy Heart perfume sets
-  some work clothes

Unfortunately I didn’t find any Xmas gifts…but plan to start shopping early for people to avoid the rush.  I hate feeling rushed.  Speaking of rushing, remind me to never take a bus trip to go shopping.  Expenisve, no freedom, lots of walking, schedules/timelines/deadline…not for moi.
