Time to do the year in review…I’ll get on that tomorrow at work.

Also ‘08 Resolution time!

“We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year’s Day.”

Happy Boxing Day

Our first Christmas as husband and wife!  It was pretty much the same as all others except not quite as exciting this year.  We spent the day quietly at home and went to my parents for dinner.  We all had fun playing Deal or No Deal (DVD version).  I knew Dad would love it :)   On Christmas Eve we had a great time at Alleta’s and took some great pics.  Evie is getting so big!  She finally turned over!!  Pretty exciting for Mom and Dad!

Here are some photos (EVIE IS SOOOO CUTE!):

Today Simon and I had breakfast with all my gym friends!  I can’t believe everyone showed up.  It was great to see the gang, catch up and review what has happened in the past year.  I’m so happy we still stay in touch, I just wish it were more often!

Here is what is up with everyone:
Erin:  Living in Cali with Jamie who is going to school to be a pastor, spending her days homeschooling Isaac.  They wil be there for 3 years!  Which is fine with me as long as she visits :)
Sarah:  Living downtown TO with Hidde taking public transportation everywhere, working as a project manager and going for beers after work when she can find someone to go with her.  Sarah – call me, I’ll come!!
Jenn:  Still in Ajax, enjoying taking care of her 2 beautiful girlies and husband
Hayley: Married in Thunder Bay shocking fish all day(!!).  What a life!  Still active in synchro swimming and various activities.  (Including practicing driving stick shift)

I’d update on Simon and I, but it is all here…just read on.

It doesn’t feel at all like Christmas for me, and I don’t know why.  Perhaps it is because we have never really been home for the holidays?  We have alot going in the next couple weeks, however, I don’t feel overwhelmed at all.  Most are frantically running around doing last minute shopping, cleaning and wrapping.  I’m all set to go.  That is just me though.  Simon on the other hand, STILL doesn’t have the gifts ready.  I’m not impressed.

We will be visiting with Alleta and the gang on Christmas eve, spending Christmas day with my parents and then going to the Pagliaroli house for New years eve, partying it up before we leave for Vegas the next day!

Finally, our photographer said our photos are ready.  After 4 long months, I can send out our thank you cards.  I have been so upset and embarassed that they haven’t been sent…I didn’t know if I should wait for the photo or send without.  My decision was to wait.  Here is the photo we will be sending.  No peeking if you don’t have yours yet!

News of the week!

Posted in Diary Entries at 8:30 am by Nicole

I can’t believe today.

It started off being a normal day until Sonia mentioned, again, going to Vegas with them.  I decided to take a look at pricing one last time to see if it was within our budget.  So, with no Christmas gifts, no more coffees, no eating out, no groceries…and if we can do it under $900, we can go.  BINGO!  We found airfare for $350 and a cheapy hotel for $322…so we are off Jan 1-Jan 6!!  I have never been on a vacation with friends before and I can’t wait for this one!

I am still in shock!

Now Harrah’s isn’t the BEST hotel, (#56/244 in Vegas) but for the money they say it is a great location and a decent stay.  It is right across the road from the gang and right in the middle of all the strip action.  Vegas strip that is.

I am mostly looking forward to hanging out with people (Sonia!), I don’t really care what we do, shop, walk, play slots, blackjack, but just being with friends is what I am excited for.

I am so excited, I have a headache.

Thank you to Simon for making this Christmas so special for me (although I know he is super excited too!! :) )

Stay Strong!

Be willing to be uncomfortable. Be comfortable being uncomfortable. Question? What’s the difference between winners and losers? Discipline!!

Being uncomfortable is a small price to pay for success.

In Control

Posted in Diary Entries, Fitness & Exercise at 12:44 pm by Nicole

There are lots of temptations and there are plenty of excuses. Keep in mind, though, that you are in control of you.
To reach the destination you have chosen, you must follow the path that will take you there. And while diversions and distractions will constantly come along, remember that you are in control of you.
Your thoughts, your words and your actions are precisely the ones you choose. They can take you anywhere you would like to go.
Though many things are out of your control, you are always in control of you. You can respond, you can adjust, you can persist and you can move in the direction of your dreams, no matter what the outside factors may be.
You are in control of you. Your decisions in each and every moment determine the quality of life that you live.
It is a heavy responsibility and a magnificent opportunity. You are in control of you, and you will always go right where your actions take you.
